PRODUCTS OF 'SENEGE' PLANT

The product of New polymers plant 'SENEGE' is polyethylenephthalate (PET) manufactured under brand 'ROSPET'.

Polyethylenephthalate (PET) is a thermoplastic polymer produced as a product of polycondensation reaction between terephthalic acid (TFA) and ethylene glycol (EG). PET is produced in the form of cylindrical grains of white milk colour.

Another popular name of PET is polyether. About 20% of PET produced in the world is used for manufacture of package materials for cosmetics, pharmaceutics and food: in liquid, pastelike and bulk form, in particular vegetable oil, soft drinks and drinking water.

Over 70% of PET is used in consumer industry. An important characteristic of PET fibers is thermal stability (long term crease resistance) and compatibility with wood and cotton fibers.

With the use of certain textures materials with long nap could be manufactured from PET fibers. They are widely used for coats, jackets and soft toys. A rigid coarse fiber manufactured of PET is used for tire cord, fire pipes and carpets manufacturing. About 10% of PET produced worldwide is used in this way.

Main raw materials for PET production are ethylene glycol, terephthalic and isophthalic acids.

PROCESSING TECHNOLOGY

Ethylene glycol - transparent colourless liguid. Its transportation and storage does not require any special precautions. Ethylene glycol is manufactured at a number of Russian facilities: 'Sibur' (the city of Dzerzhinks, Nizhny Novgorod region), 'Nizhnekamskneftechim', 'Petrokam', 'Kazannefteorgsynthez' (all in Republic of Tatarstan). Major part of produced ethylene glycol is exported at prices much lower than internal market prices due to low internal consumption.

Terephthalic acid - a substance in white crystalline form unsolvable in water. Danger marking is not required for its transportation. At present the single terephthalic acid production facility in Russia is 'Polyef' JSV (Republic of Bashkortostan). Similar to ethylene glycol major part of terephthalic acid produced in Russia is exported at prices much lower than internal market prices due to low internal consumption.

Isophthalic acid is fully imported to Russian Federation from abroad. Other then above mentioned components are used for PET manufacturing but their non-essential fraction is less than 1%.
